To avoid disruptive noise that can occur during close conversations, the influence of wind or, for example, when the microphone boom is swiveled quickly, wind protection devices made of open-pored polyurethane foam are available.
These windscreens do not produce any disturbing resonances. They only slightly influence the directivity and the transmission level in the upper frequency range. The attenuation of the wind noise was measured without an electrical filter, in a turbulent air flow with a speed of 20 km/h, generated by a silently operating wind machine.
